  Norman Chamarette says that Edwin was the Chief Permanent Way Inspector of the State Railways in Hyderabad. They lived at a Railway House in Darmabad. Later (I'm not sure where this information came from) Edwin's Aunt Emily got him the job in Jamshedpur, as Superintendent of the Railways for Tata Steel. Place name Kammamett (1) In http://dsal.uchicago.edu/maps/gazetteer/index.html there's an old map showing Khammamet (I think) west of Secunderabad in the province (?) of Warangal. (2) In http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~poyntz/India/maps.html#area Constables 1893 area maps there's an index of place names which gives a district and town of Kamamet (in Haid.) In current day India I can find two possibilities - (3) Kamarhati, but that is a suburb of Calcutta in West Bengal, which seems unlikely; (4) Kamareddi, which is maybe 70 miles North of Secunderabad. He left India in 1947 shortly after India was granted independence, though the older children had gone to England before the war. According to Florence they went to Newcastle because Winifred's husband Edward Davis came from there, and they had no other ties in England.

The next entry is for Arthur John the son of Robert Shorter Weston - it seems likely that Robert would be a brother of John Augustus, since their grandmother was a Shorter. It was at Methodist Episcopal Church - though Beryl was baptised at St Georges Church. The clergyman there, Rev Henry Fitzpatrick had retired, so perhaps they changed church at that time.
