  [S42] Other Researchers - Jack Hudson, via Kerry Edwards. Gives occupation as Post Master General [S7] BMD - British Library, Baptism, N2 vol 38 p142. They waited a very long time to baptise him - his sister Catherine was baptised in 1847. This was just after his father died (March) [S7] BMD - British Library, Burial, N2 vol 98 p43. Died aged 59 of cancer. No trade given. [S7] BMD - British Library, Marriage, N2/17/122. His second name is definitely Cheek, a Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion of Artillary. They were married by license of the Right Honorable the Governor of Fort St George. [S7] BMD - British Library, Marriage, N2 vol 44 p284 c/7/10. He was 20 (very young for India) assistant Clerk Telegraph Department, she was 23. His father is George Cheek Combes. No father is given for her, though a witness is H Bowen, which could be her father Henry. However the entry above could be her sister, and there the father is Henry, so perhaps was only put down once for both of them as father.
