  Father was an Armenian soldier of fortune in the service of the Paigah of Vicar-ul-Umrah. The Paigahs were the only noble family of Hyderabad to be permitted by the Sultans to maintain a private army. A possible name for Catherine is Katarineh Hovhanessian.

Cousin Soozie says that Katherine was disowned by her family when she married Andrew Chamarette (because he wasn't Armenian) and that her name was Armenian that meant Katherine so maybe this is why and her first and family names were Anglicised.
