Marriage Marriage of Robert Weston and Maria Kett
Scan of the Marriage Allegation. I also found their entries in the marriages index, last quarter 1849, W London, though no date is given. The volume is (in roman nuerals) 2, but Robert is on page 288, Maria p301, which is odd.

Notes - He was Coroner of the county of Northampton for 55 years, and High Steward of the Manor & Borough of Brackley until he retired in 1858.
He was elected a Burgess in 1858 and in the following year Alderman and subsequently Mayor of Brackley. - Charles Newton Weston (Robert's great grandson) wrote in his book (relevant chapter in Documents) that he visited Brackley in 1936. He saw a gravestone 'Sacred to the memory of Mary, the beloved wife of Robert Weston of this town, Solicitor, who died on 6th day of January 1876 and of Robert Weston who died on 14th December 1889 aged 64 years.'
This could not have been the grave of his great grandmother since she died in 1844. Robert's second wife Maria died in 1889. And Robert himself died in 1872. So this gravestone is problematical - could there have been two solicitors in Brackley called Robert Weston?

Presumably c) and d) are references to the agents given below - so three attorneys, and the first and third have agents - Robert acts alone? - [S3] LDS - Ancestral File.
Information on Robert's brother Edward whose family emigrated to America. This gives a few dates for other family members like Robert which sometimes corroborates other sources - for instance his marriage to Mary Shorter is the same year as the Newcastle researchers. However the AFN gives Robert's birth as 1763, which has to be much too early. In the 1841 census (ages were rounded down) he is 50+.

Robert Weston of Brackley, Northants., Gentleman, made his will 1st July 1860 which was duly proved 29th February 1872 by Maria, his widow, she being the principle beneficiary at least Robert Weston mentions no other members of his family in the will. - [S3] LDS - Ancestral File, AFN: D18Z-C6.
Age in entry in Ancestral File of his marriage to Mary Rebecca Shorter. Also Newcastle researchers have baptism certificate. - [S57] Other Researchers - Descendents of John Benjamin Weston.
William - he gives the date as 1786 - the year before the baptism date - [S2] Other Researchers - Newcastle family branch.

by License. Both otp (of this parish). I have the CD of Northants Marriages. - [S27] Other Researchers - Alan Clarke & Marilyn Ponting.
I have the CD of Northants Marriages. by License. Robert is of Deddington, Oxford (at university?), and Mary Rebecca is outside the parish of St James. In the census she is shown as born out of the area and her parents were born in Oxford, so presumably he met her there. - [S54] Other Researchers - Marion Carson, Family Bible.
- [S11] Personal Knowledge, Letter from Robert's sister Anna Dawson.
She mentions that she saw Robert's death in a Brackley newspaper, and says she is sorry Mrs Weston is so badly off. This would be Robert's widow Marie Kett - NB the numbers of servants went steadily down in the censuses even though they had a large family. - [S18] 1881 British Census - LDS.
In the 1881 census entry, Maria Weston is the right age and she would be a widow since Robert died 1872. She would have moved ('appartment' was put in then crossed out) to lodgings in the same street.
This confirms Jane Elizabeth's comment about her being badly off after Robert died. - [S28] BMD - EnglishOrigins.
Marriage allegation. Have a paper copy. Date on the allegation 04 Dec 1849. This is application for a license to the Faculty Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury. It was the alternative to calling the Banns for 3 Sundays, and somewhat classier.Several churches might have been named. St Dunstans in the West is in Fleet St, London.
