Beechfield House Hotel

The pub venture in Cornwall was I believe the Beechfield House Hotel at Yelverton on Dartmoor. I have visited the area a few times and made some enquiries to senior residents of the village, some of whom had a few memories of the old hotel but the site has long been re-developed. A ´photo / postcard of the original house is attached as well as comparison ´photo showing what is there today.

The timing of his investment was perhaps not optimum given the economic slump of the late 20´s , Wall St crash etc but of course AEW was not to know that when he set about the venture and, as for his business acumen etc , it does seem harsh to make such a judgement against him with the information we have. No doubt all was done in good faith.
He, Kathleen, Jean and our Dad as a baby must have spent at least some time there as we have ´photos showing the family in the gardens at the house as well as days out on the beaches, driving in the countryside of the district etc.
